Venlo is a city in northern Limburg located on a bend of the river Maas. The city has a long history which is shown in the characteristic downtown. The city still has the old street structure of the Middle Ages, with a town hall from the 15th century and winding streets that connect the various squares. With the many nice stores, studios and delicious restaurants you will not get bored here easily.

The Hertog Jan brewery

From authentic copper brewing kettles to an atmospheric cellar with bottles of Grand Prestige from various vintages. During a brewery visit, you follow the complete brewing process under the guidance of an experienced guide. You will smell the hops, taste the malt and of course... the beer. Afterwards, you can visit the brewery shop and Café de Hertog Jan Proeverij. The café has a special history, situated on the grounds of the Hertog Jan Brewery in Arcen. In 1981, the café opened its doors for the first time and after all these years, it is still a popular destination for many visitors.

Open air museum De Locht

Museum de Locht provides a good picture of rural life in northern Limburg from 1850 to 1950 with exhibitions, presentations of old crafts, utensils and tools. The National Asparagus and Mushroom Museum are housed in separate pavilions on the grounds. Here you get a clear picture of the cultivation of both crops and the tools used. On Sundays there are regular demonstrations and special activities for children and adults. These include demonstrations of old crafts such as: baking bread, weaving, tailoring, blacksmithing or making syrup. Children can also have fun with various old-fashioned and modern toys.
